Expression's Animation and Visual Effects Bachelor of Applied Science Program is designed to launch students toward a successful career in visual effects for film and television, and emerging applications for 3D visualization, and video games. Students will learn the fundamentals of design, art, and animation, and then apply this knowledge to 3D modeling, character animation, motion capture, character rigging, texture and lighting, compositing and more. Work in professional grade graphics and animation labs that boast a one-to-one (student-to-machine) ratio. Work on industry standard software, including Autodesk Maya & MotionBuilder, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Z-Brush, and RealViz Matchmover. Typically, the Animation and Visual Effects program follows the course sequence outlined below. However, Expression College for Digital Arts reserves the right to modify or change the school calendar, curriculum, class schedules, and/or course sequence as it deems necessary to ensure that student and institutional goals are met. Please note that only 2490 total contact hours are required for completion of the Animation and Visual Effects BAS program unless the student chooses to take the Independent Study elective which requires an additional 27 contact hours for a total of 2517 contact hours. As part of the Animation and Visual Effects Program, students are required to earn 30 credits in General Education (see the General Education section for more details), and must take all Common Core courses (see the Common Core section for more details). Expression College for Digital Arts occupies over 102,000 square feet and consists of offices, classrooms and laboratories, and faculty and student lounges.
