Northern Arizona University
The School of Communication at Northern Arizona University is a four - year merchandising program that is nearly unparalleled in the western United States.
Students attending this program have the opportunity to study all the activities involved in merchandising products and services as well as obtain a well-rounded background in communication.
Merchandising covers everything necessary to provide products to the right people for the appropriate price in perfect timing to ensure that the customer is pleased.
By attending classes within the merchandising program in which we provide, students will:
- Gain competence in analyzing products and consumer demand.
- Buying and presenting merchandise through a variety of retail outlets.
- Preparing advertising, promotional and special event campaigns to promote sales of products to consumers.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising will be received upon the completion of the program. Merchandising graduates can develop their career in the textile, apparel, accessory, cosmetic and retail industries. By doing so, students are made ready for potential positions in:
- Buying
- Merchandising
- Management
- Fashion forecasting
- Fashion coordination
- Promotional writing
- Selling
- Visual merchandising
- Advertising
- Entrepreneurship
Students will most likely work for any of the following:
- Designers
- Clothing manufacturers
- Retailers
- Trade and consumer publication
- Ad agencies
Scholarships for eligible students in the Merchandising program are available from both the School of Communication and Northern Arizona University.
Students in the merchandising program are eligible for the Fashion Show and Promotion Scholarship, which is created from profits earned from class projects.
