Once the student has completed our Fashion Design program, he or she will be fully capable of working in the fashion industry. In order to do so, the skills in fashion illustration, apparel design, clothing construction, and pattern making will be instilled in students. Students that graduate will be able to design and illustrate clothes, make patterns, and custom design apparel for clients.

Within the fashion industry, a student is presented with options to work for an apparel manufacturer or retailer. Students become exposed to information and skill-gathering which relate to the following occupations in the design field:

  • Alterations Specialist
  • Design Assistant
  • Production Manager
  • Apparel Designer
  • Fashion Illustrator
  • Sales Associate
  • Custom Designer
  • Pattern Maker
  • Sample Maker
  • Sewing Instructor

Both full and part-time students find that our curriculum is able to fit into their schedules. We offer convenient hours: day, afternoon, evening and weekend classes. A variety of scheduled classes can be attended for working professionals to bring their skills current thereby enhancing their earning potential.

The Fashion Design program requires 66 total credit hours, including 44 within the major with an additional 22 general education requirements Students who undergo The Fashion Design Associate in Applied Science program are groomed to be employed in the fashion industry. Skills taught include: apparel design, pattern making, clothing construction, and fashion illustration. Graduates will make a career in the fashion industry, working for apparel manufacturers and retailers.
