If you desire to explore a dynamic and rewarding fashion career or develop apparel skills for your own personal interest, then we encourage you to attend the Caņada Fashion Design Department here at Caņada College. There are many large clothing-manufacturing plants in the San Francisco Bay area of the United States. The second largest employer in California is the fashion industry. Field trips will be taken to manufacturing facilities, design studios, and showrooms.
Certificates Option A - Technical (Apparel Industry Oriented):
This certificate helps the students to acquire skills necessary for the fast changing apparel industry.
Computer-aided design technology has been integrated into the curriculum. This computer aided-design experience helps students compete for jobs as designers, assistant designers, pattern makers, production managers, graders and others. The teaching faculty brings both experience and expertise into the classroom, and industry specialists act as advisors through the department.
Option B - Custom (Custom Dressmaking/Small Business Oriented):
This certificate is tailored for students planning to open a small business and for those seeking a more aesthetic couture approach for the business of fashion.
An excellent location for individuals wishing to become a dressmaker, tailor, small designer, alterationist, fashion salesperson, fashion illustrator, manufacturer's representative and other related positions is the San Francisco Bay Area. The department has industry specialists who act as special advisors. Our teaching faculty provides experience and specialized knowledge for the students.
