Otis College of Art and Design

Otis College of Art and Design is comprised of a diverse population. The goal of Otis College of Art and Design is to prepare all students to enhance the world with their creative skills and vision.

Los Angeles Times founder, Harrison Gray Otis contributed his MacArthur Park property for Los Angeles' first public art college in 1918, hence the name Otis College of Art and Design. The Fashion Design Department is located on an entire floor of the California Market Center, which is downtown in the heart of the Los Angeles garment district.

The students from diverse backgrounds are prepared in the Fashion Department to be fashion innovators that will provide a professional environment in which students learn by working in tandem with top designers.

As a student attending classes at the Fashion Design Department, you will:

  • Give support to and heighten your future design career by expanding and perfecting you artistic skills.
  • Learn the needed skills related to making clothing. For all parts of the design process, a systematic and critical approach is developed.
  • Learn extensive information about fashion design.
  • Learn and show professionalism through teamwork, coordinating with professional designers, and meeting deadlines.
