University of Georgia
Designed to provide students with a basic understanding of merchandising in the apparel and textile industry are the following departments:
- The Department of Textiles
- Merchandising, and Interiors
- College of Family and Consumer Sciences
This program objective is to focus on the competencies and skills required for careers including management, retailing, and fashion promotion.
Terry College of Business requires the students to enroll in approximately 9-12 hours of courses. Additional classes that are included are:
- Computer Science
- Statistics
- Economics
- Mathematics
- Marketing
- Advertising
- Consumer Behavior
Retail Planning and Buying and Retailing Apparel and Textiles:
Among the courses included in the fashion-merchandising core are:
- Retail Planning

- Historic Costume
- Fashion Product
- Line Development
- Textile Testing
- Apparel and Textile Economics
In addition to the above-mentioned courses, students are also provided with specific courses in business and merchandising.
