The Fashion and Apparel Merchandising programs at University of Central Missouri guide students towards a business-related career in the challenging fashion or textile industry. These fields offer the student a multitude of dynamic career opportunities. Graduates can choose career opportunities with large companies or become self-employed merchants. Rest assured, the student is sure to find a satisfying job upon completion.

Two undergraduate programs are available in the Fashion and Apparel Merchandising area to meet different students needs and interests.

  • Textile and Clothing in Business

These majors lead to a Bachelor of Science degree and a clothing Minor for a bachelor's degree. Students who earn a Bachelor's degree will receive a strong theoretical foundation and laboratory experience in their major. This program combines the general university studies requirements with courses specific to fashion, textiles and business. Stressed upon are both national and international markets in classroom teaching, which includes the use of current textbooks and materials. Students' potential employability is enhanced by the requirements for the degree, which include an internship, a working practicum and numerous laboratory experiences.

For students wishing to enhance their education with a bachelor's degree, a clothing minor is offered in the Fashion & Apparel Merchandising area. A minor is composed of 20 semester hours of credit in specific textile and apparel courses and departmentally approved electives. Students have the option of various electives to round out their study goals.
