Fashion Merchandising Associate Degree Program:
The aim of the Fashion Merchandising Associate Degree Program is to create students that possess a sound understanding of visual design and merchandising techniques, marketing and sales, management and communication. Any student that reaches completion of the Fashion Merchandising Associate Degree program, at Davis College, should be capable of performing the following tasks:
- Apply a critical analysis to the retailing process, its operating environment, and the institutions and operations performed.
- Use and apply the retail management skills of merchandise budget planning, buying merchandise, management of employees, reduction of inventory loss and management of customer service.
- Apply the principles of marketing involved in the promotion, product pricing, development of a product, and its distribution.
- Understand current fashion trends in the context of historical fashion cycles
- Know designers and their impact on the fashion world
- Develop skills in sales presentation, fashion forecasting, and market analysis
- Evaluate fashion career options.
- Using written and oral skills have effective communications with co-workers and clients.
