Ursuline College

Ursuline College offers students the option of two fashion programs:

  • Fashion Design
  • Fashion Merchandising

Both fashion programs are provided with an opportunity for the F.I.T. track.

Students prepare for an industry that is increasingly dependent on electronic design techniques due to the latest technology offered being made accessible to all. Facilities at the college offer Cad, Elna, Juki, single-stitch industrial sewing machines, multi-thread sergers, industry-standard pattern drafting tables, standard Wolf dreff forms, steam irons, Merrow machines and Consew velvet machines.

Students can take advantage of the computer aided design lab where they can work on workstations that have on-line access to fashion resources as well as all necessary peripheral equipment such as color printers and scanners.

Students who would like to pursue a career in teaching at the University level should earn at least a Master's degree. There are many career options to the Fashion Merchandising major: buyer, stylist, manufacturer's representative, visual merchandiser, display, mall marketing, mall advertising, retailer, market consultant, communications, fashion marketer, fashion forecaster, fashion editor, textile and fashion publications and fashion marketer. Students seeking to teach at the university level should at least earn a Master's degree.
