The Fashion Design program at Drexel University is recognized nationally as a top-flight program. The rigorous syllabus comprises a unique Co- op experience extended over a six month time period, which complements coursework in conceptual design, presentation skills, CAD, and manufacturing procedures.
The course progression includes all facets of fashion design, from men's, women's and children's wear, to swimwear and couture-and allows students to maintain the ability to manage careers in such areas as fashion design, styling, advertising, and computer-aided and technical design. The core of a student's education lies in replicating the professional world experience by holding small studio classes and critical analysis by practicing designers. Students explore and participate in the vibrant fashion community in addition to their coursework. Yearly, Fashion Design students will submit their work to national and international competitions. A program for Study Abroad at the London College Of Fashion during the student's second year offers an international perspective of the fashion world.
What would a fashion school be without a fashion show? A high caliber event featuring professional models and prominent local media, conclude their studies senior year, with the presentation of their collection in the Drexel Fashion Show. The chief aim of the fashion design program at Drexel is to impart theoretical knowledge of art, craft, and design combined with the practical knowledge needed to design marketable fashions.
