Lehigh Carbon Community College
Fashion Design Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree:
This program was created for students who want to enter the fashion industry. Along with the coursework at LCCC, students have the opportunity to have studio experiences at The Baum School of Art in Allentown. Some students may choose to enter this program simply to extend their knowledge, rather than to prepare for a degree; however, the program is designed for those students who do plan to enter a four-year institution and pursue a bachelor's degree. As the requirements of four-year institutions differ widely, students should choose an intended transfer college quickly and work with their advisor to follow the program described in that college's catalog. A portfolio for transfer and employment applications is expected of all students. The portfolio is fundamental to determine which courses will transfer to another college.
Survey painting, sculpture, architecture and other similar art forms with consideration of the aesthetic, historical, and technical significance of major artistic achievements will be tasks graduates will be able to perform upon successful completion of the program. We encourage the use of various media to communicate ideas visually and their concepts, especially as they relate to the human form. Students will understand the materials, details, and fit as well as implementing design and construction with these attributes in mind.
