FASHION DESIGN
For students seeking to work in the design or production side of the fashion industry, the Fashion Design degree program will provide a strong preparation. Students who are studying for a career in fashion design learn how to:
- Sketch, design, and construct apparel
- Develop product lines

- Use computer design programs
- Analyze textiles
Students are prepared for careers in the design and development of merchandise for manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers through the emphasis placed on the creative aspects of the industry. The B.A. degree in Fashion Design is available in the program.
Career options for graduates include apparel design, styling, fashion coordination, pattern making, sample making, production management, product development, computer-aided design (CAD), and fashion consulting. Coursework in topics such as English, history, government, mathematics, economics, humanities, art, and computer science are required by the programs, which emphasize a thorough background in the liberal arts. The internship program in which all students are required to participate is an important component to the Fashion and Textiles Undergraduate Programs. Students gain valuable professional job skills through these experiences, and many find permanent employment upon graduation as a result of their internship placement. FAHSION MERCHANDISING
A major in Fashion Merchandising includes courses in merchandising, retailing, buying, promoting fashions, and understanding the consumer base. Graduates will have the ability to:
- Buy, promote, and sell merchandise for retailers and wholesalers
- Merchandise, promote, and sell products for manufacturers
A Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising is earned at the completion of the program. Experts predict that there will be excellent job opportunities in merchandising during the 21st century.
