Fashion Design (B.A.)
Positions in the fashion industry including that of designer or assistant designer should be the goal of anyone entering the Fashion Design major program.
An adjudicated fashion show featuring garments designed and constructed by the students in Fashion Design is held annually. By participating in the Maryland Fashion Club and through affiliations with the Baltimore-Washington, DC, Fashion Group Internationals, Inc., students gain an opportunity to cultivate their professional skills. This prepares students for employment with apparel manufacturers or product development departments. Advanced students create a portfolio and a line of fashions. All senior students are required to intern with an off campus employer. Noted professional designers evaluate student's original designs. A minimum grade of C is needed in any course within the Fashion Design major in order to take a higher-numbered course.
