An interdepartmental major, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, can be gained from the Bachelor of Science Fashion Merchandising. The courses provide students with the skills they need to become fashion merchandise managers, retailers, or buyers. So that students may gain valuable insight into the processes of production, distribution, and clothing and textiles consumption, a cross section of courses derived from Administrative Management, Marketing Education and Family and Consumer Sciences exist. Summer quarter internships allow students the opportunity to gain practical work experience in agencies dealing with fashion merchandise. Regular meetings with a faculty advisor are required for students in the major program. All the fundamentals must be satisfied except in cases of special permission.
