This means that you must fully believe in your clothes, your designs, and your ability to be a top designer.

As part of your marketing strategy in your first year as a fashion designer it is important that you take multiple opportunities to network with other designers, photographers, magazine editors, and others associated with the fashion industry. Through marketing you can develop contacts to key businesses and companies which have the potential to provide opportunities to help you build your line.

Lastly it is important in your first year as a fashion designer that you be ready to handle the critics that oppose your line or your fashion style. Unfortunately no matter how great of a clothing line you develop not everyone is going to love it. You need to be ready to listen to criticism and not allow it to deter you from achieving your dream of becoming a fashion designer.
