San Diego Mesa College
This is designed for the person who wants a fashion related career. An understanding of the opportunities and a working knowledge of the constantly evolving phases of the fashion industry will be gained by each student.
The program offers the opportunity to specialize in one of three areas:
- Fashion Merchandising
- Fashion Design
- Fashion Consulting.
Students interested in sales, management, buying, visual presentation, promotion, and wholesaling should focus on the Fashion Merchandising area to develop such skills needed for an entry-level position. Skills developed in Fashion Design are the creation of imaginative finished garments.
Included in the technology skills that will be learned are sketching, sewing, draping, pattern making and presentation. These will prepare the students for entry-level positions in manufacturing, designing, and the home sewing industry.
Fashion consulting trains the students to become personal shoppers or wardrobe consultants. Programs include:
