FIDM/The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, with campuses in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Orange County, California, is a private, specialized, co-educational college with WASC and NASAD accreditation.
Fashion Design:
Students will be prepared for fast-paced careers in the apparel industry's fashion design sector through the Fashion Design Program. In this program, one is encouraged to learn many different parts of the fashion industry, including how to move from design to sketches, to work on computers, and ultimately draping. Students will become familiar with the importance of communication and critical reasoning, in addition to learning about the effect that both elements have on the diversified, global fashion industry. The program is prepared in such way to test and encourage students by merging artistic, technical, and theoretical elements into a realistic approach to the fashion design industry.
Apparel Manufacturing Management:
The program in Apparel Manufacturing Management is designed with the intent to prepare students to either own or manage a fashion manufacturing company. This applied learning centric program engages the student in all phases of product and development, global sourcing, production planning, technology usage, sales management, financial control, and HR management. Classes emphasize the prevalence of confederacy and practical exchanges in making elective choices at all stages of the production and marketing processes.
International Manufacturing & Product Development Advanced Study Program:
The students are provided with a professional education designed to equip them with the necessary skills they will require to compete in today's fast-paced, global community of Manufacturing and Product Development by The Advanced Study Program in International Manufacturing and Product Development. The student is involved, via the comprehensive program, in all steps of the product development cycle, from the product's concept and design through technical design, sourcing, costing, production, and consumer marketing.
Students advantage from their visit of Europe and Asia in that it teaches students current trends that are moving and impacting the global marketplace.
