Chowan College
For more than 50 years, the William A. Krueger School of Graphic Communication at Chowan University has lead the way in training students for graphic design careers in production, supervision or management. Chowan graduates have found success in a variety of fields, including screenprinting, flexography, multimedia and digital color and imaging, as well as in the newspaper industry, printing management, and as project estimators and schedulers.
Chowan offers a variety of career-launching degrees: a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Art degree for Studio Arts majors, as well as a B.S. degree in Graphic Design and a B.A. degree in Fine Arts Studies through the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. The curriculum is broad in its offering but focused within departments. In small classes, students develop traditional drawing skills and adapt this knowledge to imaging technologies and digital communication.
Expert faculty members in the art department give students the personal attention necessary to enhance their skills, further their talents, and land internships. In the Horner Building, students use iMacs, PowerMacs and PCs equipped with specialized software.
