Eastern Kentucky University

The Graphic Design program at Eastern Kentucky University is committed to nurturing both individual creativity and high professionalism in its students. This highly focused BFA program is aimed specifically at students who have both the desire and capacity for advanced study and is only offered as a major.

Students enrolled in the Graphic Design BFA will receive an intense program of training and study designed to prepare them to pursue employment in the graphic design field directly upon graduation. This focus requires that the BFA program restrict admission to applicants who meet the following requirements:

  • Have reached an advanced level of academic training through the completion of the minimum Foundations and Core requirements.
  • Have submitted a portfolio of work for review and acceptance into the program.

In addition to Core course requirements, Graphic Design BFA students at Eastern Kentucky University must:

  • Receive acceptance into the BFA Program through a portfolio review.
  • Complete an additional 27 hours in graphic design.
  • Submit a final senior thesis with appropriate documentation to the Departmental Office and a copy to the chair of the BFA Committee as approved by the student's BFA Committee.
  • Successfully participate in BFA Committee Reviews and a group exhibition in conjunction with graduation.
