Expression Motion Graphic Design Program

Through working on real-world projects students gain graphic design skills and an understanding of production practices. The Motion Graphic Design program develops a broad skill set, allowing the opportunity for areas of specialization. The courses offered are:

• Traditional fine art and design basics
• Typography
• Layout
• Composition
• Color theory
• 2D and 3D animation
• Interactivity/screen design
• Compositing
• Mobile device design

Video editing as well as pre and postproduction skills are taught in order to give students experience in shooting and editing music videos, film titles, movie trailers, and medical or educational videos.

The classes are based on projects and integrate every aspect of visual design and production. Students become skilled in many industry-standard applications as a result of spending a great deal of time in the lab. The student's portfolio will be enhanced through working on individual and group projects. Websites, podcasts, music videos, commercials, PSAs, network identity packages, corporate identity, and cross-platform marketing campaigns are among the class projects included in the curriculum. Adobe, Microsoft, and Apple packages are among the software and hardware used in the program. Volunteering or out-of-class projects give Motion Graphic Design students the opportunity to gain more experience.

While working on realistic projects, students become comprehensive to the real world and the way production and procedures are actually conducted in the industry. They are able to see their thoughts be carried all the way through to final products. To prepare the student for the real work world, the Motion Graphic Design program provides skills designed to model the type of environment production designers might encounter. Motion graphics, print design, 2D and 3D animation, music video production and film title design are just a few of the careers that students enrolled in the Expression Motion Graphic Design program will be prepared for. By graduation, students will have a portfolio that includes a website and a motion graphics demo reel that promotes your expertise as a cross-platform media designer, production artist, and an art/creative director.
