Through the Department of Fine Arts, Humanities and Mass Communications, Fort Valley State University offers a degree program in Commercial Design. The Commercial Design program at Fort Valley State University offers students a design curriculum which follows the standards set by national and industry accrediting standards. Students also gain practical and technological skills in the department's computer labs.
In order to graduate, students must earn professional experience through a design internship with local companies such as design studios, publishers, newspapers and magazines, television and film companies, public relations firms, advertising agencies, print shops, and corporate design offices. Fort Valley State University students who complete these internships successfully are often offered full-time work with the companies following graduation.
