Students receive the training and tools needed to face the challenges of modern design, resolving problems, and meeting design goals of education, information, and entertainment.
CART at Mercy College offers students a comprehensive course of study that combines practical skills, conceptual development, and technical training in a program that is also enjoyable and gratifying. It emphasizes the creative power of digital technologies to enhance communication, enrich individual creativity, and investigate the relationships among ideas, objects, and people.
The four-year BFA program at CART requires the completion of a core group of fundamental design courses followed by a series of electives courses that include Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Gaming, and Animation. In addition students have the possibility of enrolling in courses from the Computer Information Systems, Media Studies, and Music Industry programs.
In addition to traditional drawing studios, students have access to school’s digital lab studios which include both Macintosh and Windows platforms and the latest design software and technologies: digital video, two- and three-dimensional animation, color printing, scanning, and DVD/CD-R burning facilities. Students also have access to both digital photography and video equipment. The studios are outfitted with audio-visual equipment to facilitate classroom presentations and critiques.
