New England School of Art & Design

The role of the graphic designer is to transform information, ideas and emotions into persuasive visual representations. To that end, the Graphic Design program at The New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University focuses on skill-building through coursework in illustration, typography, printing, photography, electronic media, and design history.

The NESADSU Bachelor of Fine Arts degree trains students in both traditional visual arts and the latest technologies, ensuring that they graduate with well-developed portfolios that showcase their problem-solving skills. Students in the graphic design program work towards this final goal by expanding their analytical skills as well as drawing skills while learning to develop concepts and communicate ideas. The computer is key in this process, but in the context of the reinforcement of these skills and concepts.

Faculty members offer portfolio critiques each semester so that students receive continuous feedback and can therefore refine the presentation of their work at each step of the program. The practical experience gained in internships gives students an edge in their careers.

The Master of Arts in Graphic Design is comprised of a minimum of thirty semester credit hours of graduate study at level 700 or higher; the program runs throughout the year and requires a minimum commitment of three full-time semesters. Although the program is geared towards students with a BFA in Graphic Design, applicants with undergraduate degrees in other areas of the visual arts or in unrelated degrees will be considered.
