Set exhibit design programs teach students information relating to creating designs and working behind the scenes to make those designs work. They take classes in construction, which teaches them how to build specific sets and pieces. In addition, they learn how to use power tools safely and correctly. They also learn model making in both computers and in 3-D figures and how to take those models and transfer them onto the set.

Work typically includes designing displays and sets that are used for photo shoots, television spots and movies. Designers may also work for production companies and in museums where exhibits are needed on a daily basis or retail companies where they are called upon to create product exhibits.
