School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston
The Text and Image Arts Department of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston encourages graphic design students to learn the techniques of effective visual communication while also developing their own creative vision.
Students majoring in graphic design at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston begin their training in the fundamentals of design including typography, bookmaking, and computer design programs. They proceed to classes on the integration of imagery and text, matrices, interface design, interactivity, narrative creation, and systematic design. Upper coursework includes the completion of increasingly complex projects, critical analysis, and advanced directed studies.
Graphic design students have access to the school's modern computer labs which include both Macintosh and PC platforms, the latest design and publishing software, high-resolution monitors, flat-bed scanners, a variety of professional printers, and bookbinding equipment.
