Hallmark Institute of Photography
Hallmark Institute of Photography is a privately-owned photography school located in Turner Falls, Massachusetts. Hallmark Institute of Photography is nationally accredited, and offers a 10-month certificate program designed to prepare students for a career in photography. The program covers the business, technical, and artistic elements of a photography career.
In addition to the principles of photography, including the technical and artistic aspects of photography and 1400 clock hours, a Hallmark Institute of Photography education also covers marketing, finance, and other important elements of owning a photography business. This curriculum is designed to prepare students to operate their own business after completing the certificate program, instead of focusing solely on the artistic elements of photography.
One of the most widely acclaimed features of the Hallmark Institute of Photography curriculum is the Guest Speaker series. The Guest Speaker series includes lectures by notable photographers, including Joyce Tenneson, Douglas Kirkland, Michael Tcherevkoff, and Mary Ellen Mark. These Guest Speakers talk about their experiences in the photography field and give students first-hand advice and expertise about pursuing their own careers in photography.
Hallmark Institute of Photography does not offer on-campus housing, but the Director of Student Services works with nearby landlords and property management companies to help coordinate housing for students. The Student Services department offers surveys to help match you with roommates who share similar interests, study styles, and goals for the time at Hallmark Institute of Photography. Financial aid is available for students who qualify through state and federal programs.
The Hallmark Institute of Photography is located at the base of the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts. For photography students interested in outdoor photography, the area provides many photogenic scenes and opportunities to practice outdoor photography. Other colleges are nearby, and students can share opportunities for art exhibits, theater, dance, and music.
