Hesser College was founded in 1900 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Formerly known as Hesser Business College and founded by Joel Hesser it expanded beyond Manchester in 1975. Hesser now has five locations to serve the needs of its learners. Hesser is part of the Kaplan Learning Network and provides a mix of general and career and technical education.

There are several programs of study including AAS degrees in Graphic Design and Interior Design. The graphic design program is located at the Manchester and Nashua campuses while the interior design program is located at the Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, and Salem campuses. The graphic design program is a mix of liberal arts courses and graphic design courses designed to give the student breadth and depth of knowledge. The courses are taught by industry professionals through a variety of mediums such as lectures, videos, hands-on computer exercises, as well as individual and group projects. The degree is designed for the student to be able to achieve entry-level employment in the field of design with career opportunities including graphic designer, illustrator, desktop specialist, and web page designer.

The interior design program focuses on several different areas of interior design such as special planning, material selection, drafting, and presentation. The curriculum is hands on and very interactive to help student learning become vital and relevant. Industry opportunities for graduates of the interior design program include interior designer, home interior consultant, and kitchen/bath designer.

Hesser College offers a wide array of student services such as job search skills, academic and career planning, financial aid counseling, as well as an abundance of extra-curricular activities and clubs for students to become involved with. Hesser College and all its locations are fully accredited in the state of New Hampshire and are licensed to grant college degrees to students who successfully complete their programs of study.

Associate of Science – Interior Design:

The Interior Design program goal is to aid a talented person that possesses interest for color, design, texture and space into developing a career from their interest. Working toward receiving a degree in interior design can be an inroad to an exciting and new career.

The student is introduced to the variety of aspects of the exhilarating field of interior design, including space planning, material selection, color, lighting, and style, through the Interior Design program. Two components of the hands-on training that will help generate interest among potential employers include a project where the student will create a series of interior environments and the beginning of a personal portfolio. Participation in field trips, and using computer-aided drafting software will boost their potential.
