The University of Alabama
Students at the Department of Clothing, Textiles and Interior Design at the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Alabama can choose an academic major in either apparel and textiles (AT) or interior design (INTD). Students who graduate from the interior design program, which gives students a complete preparation for careers in both residential and nonresidential interior design, will be prepared to apply to become registered designers. Future employment opportunities might be in interior design divisions of architectural firms, interior design studios, or in retail. In 2000 the program was the recipient of a six-year reaccreditation from the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER) and in 1998 was accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
