Virginia College-Birmingham
For more than 25 years, the Southern Institute School of Interior Design at Virginia College has been successfully training students to enter the exciting world of interior design. Upon graduation, Virginia College's award-winning students embark on challenging careers in which they produce detailed design solutions for a variety of interiors, such as hotels, restaurants, offices, stores, medical facilities and homes. These projects focus on the aesthetics of interiors and entail creativity and knowledge in generating architectural drawings, selecting materials, writing specifications, planning for accessibility and meeting building code guidelines. The curricula of the Associate's Degree and the Bachelor's of Applied Arts Degree, presently offered at the Birmingham campus, fulfill the academic requirements for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam. The program has been accredited by The Council for Interior Design Accreditation and approved by the Alabama Board of Registration for Interior Design.
