Glendale Community College
Opportunities abound for interior designers, and the courses at Glendale Community College serve as a foundation for those who want to take advantage of these possibilities. Glendale Community College's Interior Design program not only trains students for entry-level positions in the design and home furnishings industries but also meets the needs of those interested in redesigning their own homes or continuing on for a certificate or degree in Interior Design. Classes focus on preparing students for careers in the design of hotels, residential homes, model homes, stage sets and offices. Students learn how to prepare sketches, technical drawings and specifications and how to present ideas for the construction of interiors, furnishings and lighting, all while focusing on how to improve the safety, function and quality of interior spaces. Students build skills that will aid them in the selection of furniture, fabric, flooring, wall coverings and accessories and gain knowledge that will help them in the building, remodeling, buying or selling of a home. A Certificate in Home Furnishings is offered, as well as courses that count towards an Associate's Degree in Interior Design.
