Chaffey College
At its core the dynamic profession of interior design is the application of creativity and technical skill to reshape spaces. After completing either the Associate of Science degree in Interior Design or the Certificate in Interior Design (for students already holding a degree in another field), students in Chaffey College's Interior Design program are trained to enter the industry or further their studies at a four-year university. The Chaffey curriculum focuses on four areas of preparation and skill-building: drafting, sketching, rendering and presentation skills; a knowledge of design materials and systems; a thorough understanding of art, design and architectural history; and an understanding of the concepts and creativity that underpin design theory. Students will complete design projects for both residential and commercial spaces. Additional activities are offered, such as guest lecturers and field trips to important collections of decorative arts, architectural monuments, and design resource centers in Los Angeles. Students are kept abreast of potential career opportunities through the publicized activities of key professional design organizations.
