Design Institute of San Diego
The Design Institute of San Diego gives students the specialized knowledge necessary to inform the aesthetic and social decisions made by interior designers. Students progress through a sequence of coursework that builds an overall conceptual framework and at the same time study drawing, programming, structural principles, building codes, safety regulations, energy conservation, lighting materials, and methods of construction. This knowledge is then applied to complex design principles and concepts. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design is a four-year degree consisting of 90 credits in design and 36 general education credits. The degree leads to employment in the interior design industry and is accredited by The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), formerly known as FIDER.
