Las Positas College
While many believe that an interior designer's work centers on selecting furniture or wallpaper, it actually goes far beyond that. A successful interior designer combines creativity with technical skills to design spaces that are ideal for living or working. Designers have to understand how to meet their client's needs in both taste and lifestyle. At Las Positas College, the Interior Design Program prepares students for this career by giving them a thorough training in the specifics of the interior design industry that will serve their needs in the future. Students may opt for a Certificate or go for the Associate of Science Degree which opens the door to a four-year degree. Both the certificate and the A.S. degree qualify students for entry-level positions in residential and commercial design. Graduates may work for real estate firms, builders of model homes, corporate design firms, private clients in sales to the trade or in retail. Holders of an A.S. degree often go on to degree programs in Architecture, Interior Design and related fields.
