Orange Coast College
Orange Coast College's Regional Interior Design program is based on a multi-level program that extends a certificate in Interior Merchandising (Level 1), an Associate in Science degree (Level 2), and a Bachelor's degree (Level 3). Students who complete the Level 1 certificate program work in furnishings and merchandising while Level 2 students are employed as interior design assistants and may work in illustration, drafting, merchandising or selecting and specifying furnishings and materials. Students who have the goal of working as professional interior designers choose Level 3. The program was created by design educators and working professionals who had in mind the idea to provide an interdisciplinary approach to fundamental design, design analysis, space planning, and the selection and specification of materials selection and specifications concerning residential and commercial spaces. Orange Coast College, along with Fullerton College, Mt. San Antonio College and Saddleback College, is part of the Regional Interior Design Consortium. This affiliation allows students flexibility to take courses at all four colleges.
