The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandizing has developed a comprehensive program that blends interior design theory with a pragmatic approach to solving aesthetic and functional design problems. Student become proficient in CAD illustration, architectural drafting and graphic presentation skills while gaining knowledge of the resources, materials and business practices of the interior design industry. Students who successfully complete the curriculum qualify for the NCIDQ exam and meet the educational requirements for professional membership in ASID and IIDA. Degree programs include the Associate of Arts Degree as well as Professional Designation Programs for those who already possess a degree and wish to specialize further. FIDM degree-holders may apply for the Advanced Study Design Specialties Program in Interior Design, which covers areas like Kitchen and Bath Design, Product Design, Set Decoration/Design, Decorative Arts, Store Planning, and Garden Design. Internships in Paris in Decorative Arts and Garden Design are part of the program.
