Becker College
Students who wish to pursue interior design in a small, coeducational community that is focused on the whole person will find the right environment at Becker College. It offers a Bachelor of Arts with an Interior Design concentration. The Becker community prides itself on stressing classroom education along with practical experience derived through its partnerships with the business and professional community. Students are supported in their social, intellectual and personal growth by stimulating coursework and a climate of intellectual exchange. The Interior Design program trains students for careers that require a blend of aesthetic understanding, knowledge of space planning, and business savvy. At Becker, student learn how to use basic drafting equipment and create scale drawings. They come to understand how to use design materials such as flooring, carpeting, fabrics, slipcovers, upholstery, window treatments, wall coverings and furniture and are well-versed in the history of architecture, interiors, furnishings and accessories, as well as furniture construction techniques. This complete preparation serves graduates as they go on to open their own business or start a design career at a larger firm.
