Lansing Community College
In Lansing Community College's Interior Design Program, students engage in unique learning experiences to earn a two-year associate degree in applied science. To adapt to the demanding schedule of students, courses are offered year round, and nights and weekends. Lansing's program distinguishes itself from other similar programs through its excellent internship course and its emphasis on computer-aided drafting design (CADD). The internship program provides students with first-hand experience which allows them to apply skills learned in the classroom, refine career goals, and gain direct professional knowledge from an expert in the field. Development of CADD skills, fundamental in much of today's interior design world, is achieved through courses in CADD for interiors and space planning, three-dimensional interiors, and computer-aided kitchen design, as well as instruction in AutoCAD, Planit Fusion and 2020 Technologies software. Lansing Community College's commitment to excellence in design is evident not only in its academic programs, but in that it was the first National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Endorsed College Program in Michigan. In receiving this recognition, Lansing students receive even greater internship and employment opportunities.
