Century Community and Technical College
Students studying design at Century College have a wide range of program options from which to choose: Interior Design Consultant Certificate, Interior Design Associate Diploma, Interior Design AAS Degree, and Kitchen and Bathroom Design. The Interior Design Consultant Certificate is directed towards people already in the industry who would like to expand their knowledge and reinforce their skill set. The Interior Design Associate Diploma, in contrast, focuses on instructing students to create designs which meet client needs, furnishing interior environments, and the specification and sale of those products necessary for the realization of the design. Students in the Interior Design AAS Degree program not only learn all of the aforementioned skills, but also through additional coursework, will have developed the fundamental marketing and general education skills to allow them to succeed in the modern interior design industry. Endorsed by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), Century College's Kitchen and Bathroom Design program is a certificate program based on standards set out by the NKBA in which students will learn the fundamentals of kitchen and bathroom design using both computer-based and non-computer based techniques. As part of the program, students will study construction and mechanical systems, presentation skills, universal design and theme techniques, while at the same time learning business skills necessary in the industry. To complete the program, students are required to participate in an internship.
