Dakota County Technical College
Dakota County Technical College trains students to join the interior design industry after completing a part-time or full-time A.A.S. degree that will turn their talent into skills and knowledge. By completing this CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation)-recognized program, students learn to conceive and execute interiors that are functional as well as aesthetically-pleasing, and that the improve quality of life of those that live or work there. Emphasis is placed on design theories, building codes, interior materials, and computer-aided and manual drafting. This knowledge is the driving force behind successful residential, commercial, and kitchen and bath design. DCTC graduates have a variety of career opportunities and have gone on to work as assistants in residential and commercial design firms. Or, students may wish to transfer to one of the following colleges: Bemidji State University, Metropolitan State University, Southwest State University and Saint Mary\'s University. The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) endorses the Interior Design Program at DCTC, and students have the opportunity to take part in a NKBA-endorsed monitored internship program.
