Community College of Southern Nevada
The Applied Technologies department at Community College of Southern Nevada offers a wide range of practical programs. Interior design students will learn how to plan spaces and choose furnishings for residential interiors as well as public buildings, business and institutions. The skills they gain through this program allow them to create projects that work within a client's taste, needs and budget. Designers must be skilled computer drafters, understand specification for non-load bearing construction, and be knowledgeable about choosing furnishing, finishes, and lightings. There is an emphasis on meeting federal, state, and local buildings regulations, as well as designing accessible interiors for the elderly and disabled. Students should sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam once they have sufficient experience in the field.
