Students with a desire to reshape the environment and change the future have two professional-degree options at Kean University's Interior Design Program: the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree with majors in Visual Communications and Interior Design, and the Bachelor of Industrial Design (BID). Close proximity to New York gives students the chance to visit showrooms, design firms, and keep in contact with practicing designers. The goal at Kean is to provide an optimum career-focused education and the creation of an outstanding portfolio. The Department of Design offers students a design studio, a materials and finishes resource library, and computer facilities. The National Association of Schools of Art and Design has accredited all visual arts programs at Kean, and FIDER has accredited the Interior Design major.
