The objective of the interior design program at ECU is to train students to become the future leaders of the interior design industry. To do so, they must become adept problem solvers with a deep understanding of social responsibility. The ECU program is based on a general education in the arts and science, and then in-depth coursework which hones their problem-solving skills, aesthetic sensibilities, creativity, and technological skills. Students are prepared not only for careers in residential and commercial interior design, but also in apparel merchandising and for further graduate studies. Equally important is a sharp business sense, and the ability to communicate visual through computer-aided drafting, model building, and image processing. ECU students conceive, create, and evaluate their design for a variety of settings, such as residences, office facilities, retail, health facilities, and hospitality. Upon completing the freshman and sophomore preparatory courses in interior design, students' portfolios will be reviewed and then they will be admitted into professional-level courses. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to be admitted.
