Oregon State University
Gradates from Oregon State University's interior design program are prepared to work as interior designers for interior design firms, architecture studios, and retail stores; as kitchen designers or space planners; or a representatives for furniture companies. Highlights of the curriculum include: floor plans, furniture styles, fabric, color and design; history of furniture and textiles; technical interior sketching; aesthetic and functional components of space planning; government regulations affecting interior design decisions; and principles of pricing, buying and displaying merchandise. One of the program's standout features in the Interior Design Field Experience, a cooperative program that enlists juniors and seniors, design firms and the Department of Design and Human Environment, and fosters a collaborative environment that gives students a jumpstart on their careers. OSU's Interior Design program has the endorsement of the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Graduates sit for the professional examination administered by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification.
