Altoona Area Vocational Technical School
Altoona Area Vocational Technical School offers preparation in interior design for students who wish to seek full-time employment after graduating as well as for those who plan to continue their studies in art and design school or at a university. The program, comprised of 1500 class hours, focuses on residential and commercial design and decorating. Students choose to specialize in either decorating or finishing. Accordingly, n additional facet of the program emphasizes wall finishes, and students will learn how to paint, hang wall coverings, hang and finish drywall, and create popular faux finishes, all skills that will give students greater opportunities when they work with builders, contractors and clients. After graduating, students are employed as interior designers in large cities as well as in the Blair County area. Other students go on to pursue additional studies in interior design at other institutions.
