Arcadia University offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program that blends a liberal arts education with career-minded professional training. As freshmen and sophomores, art majors take foundations courses and then select a studio concentration. The interior design specialization trains students to become professional interior designers and places emphasis on designing for commercial spaces. Students focus on space and how it is reinterpreted in relation to specific design problems. Through coursework and practice, students become aware of the importance of space, form and scale as the foundation of technical skills. Interior design majors use AutoCAD technology and are encouraged to take part in regional design competitions and be members of professional organizations.
