Indiana University of Pennsylvania-Main Campus
Indiana University of Pennsylvania offers a NASAD-accredited interior design program that brings together art, technology, science and business in a curriculum that trains students for rewarding careers. The curriculum is based on courses in space planning, color, drafting (CAD), lighting, residential design as well as kitchen, bath, and media room design, historical and modern design, textiles, contract design, and professional practices. Internships are encouraged, and a great deal of emphasis is placed on the development of a portfolio. Students learn to work within the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and become sensitive to environmental issues in the design world. The ASID student chapter, established nearly twenty years ago, gives students the possibility to get in contact with designers and other members of the industry, thus complementing the academic instruction they receive with a broad spectrum of practical learning experiences and contacts.
