Northampton County Area Community College
Northampton County Area Community College grants an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Interior Design. Flexible scheduling allows both part-time and full-time students to take part in the degree. The curriculum has been expertly designed to train students for careers in residential and contract design. Students begin with foundation courses to improve their knowledge and skills in drafting, architecture history and interior and architectural design. The following semester expands their skills in digital design studio and History II. Since technology is a constant component of the program, students become adepts users of Archicad and Autocad. An additional part of the curriculum is Kitchen and Bath design, and in the upper-level courses, students take part in an interior design studio under the tutelage of professional architects and designers. The faculty-sponsored student chapter of the American Institute of Architects offers enrichment opportunities such as field studies and year excursions to major cities.
