Converse College
Located in the heart of the textile and furniture industries, Converse College offers an Interior Design Program that leads to a professional B.F.A. degree and is geared towards students who want to become active in the design industry immediately. This rigorous program, with 72 credit hours in the major alone, views interior design not just as a business, but a blend of art, science and industry. Heavy emphasis is placed on the professional nature of the industry, and students take part in intensive sequenced courses that fully prepare them for later professional endeavors. Within the context of creating functional, original and aesthetically pleasing environments for the client, students learn about restoration, recreation, historical preservation, creative re-use of facilities, ADA codes, life safety issues, building codes, ergonomics, and the use of AutoCAD in interior construction.
