Middle Tennessee State University
The Department of Human Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University offers a FIDER-accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design. Graduates of this program are trained in residential and non-residential design, lighting, materials and finishes, furnishings, historical interiors, drafting, CAD, visual communication, and professional practices. The four-year program is comprised of 41 credits in General Studies, 22 credits in Professional Support Courses (art, business and Human Sciences courses), and 57 credits in Interior Design. Students must follow a strict sequence to complete the courses in a timely fashion. Upon completion of the General Studies requirements, the Interior Design major takes a full three years. Students are encouraged to take part in one- or two-semester internships while enrolled in classes, or to pursue a co-op experience that lasts three semesters.
