El Centro College

For over thirty years, the Interior Design Department at El Centro College has been accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER). El Centro College's programs provide students with options for studying interior design: a two-year Associate in Applied Sciences Degree, a 27-hour Advanced Technical Certificate, and a three-year Professional Certificate program. The program is based on a series of thorough sequential courses which become more difficult each step of the way. In this manner, students build skill sets and expand their knowledge. The Advanced Technical Certificate follows the completion of the AAS and requires the submission of a portfolio. This intense formal training is the first step towards becoming a fully licensed interior designer. After completing the requires practical experience, one mast pass the formal exam administered by the NCIDQ to become a licensed professional.
